The Rule Change
The NBA modified rules around intentionally fouling poor free-throw shooters away from the ball. In the last two minutes of each quarter, deliberate off-ball fouls now resulted in one free throw plus possession.
Statistical Impact
Reduced the incentive to intentionally foul players like DeAndre Jordan and Andre Drummond, improving pace and watchability in late-game situations. However, the rule only applied in the final two minutes of quarters.
